Springfield, Illinois
On July 25, 2015, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 788 Website was recognized as “Chapter Website of the Year” at the VVA 17th National Convention in Springfield, Illinois.
Since then, we have continued to promote and support a full range of issues important to veterans and their families.
Our website includes information on federal and state benefits, veteran tuition waivers, hiring a vet, substance abuse prevention, veteran eligible treatment services court, homelessness, and suicide prevention.
Most recently we have highlighted our community outreach and partnerships with the American Legion, Bozeman Chamber of Commerce, Bozeman Elks Lodge, Bozeman Public Library, Bozeman Warming Center, Salvation Army, Gallatin County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Greater Gallatin Homeless Action Coalition, Veterans Alliance of Southwest Montana, and Veterans Treatment Court.
We also like to recognize local heroes in our community like Joe Schumacher who is the Director of Veteran Services at Montana State University and Rob Frey who served as an Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army and completed a two-year tour in Vietnam from 1967-1969.
Our NEWSROOM includes a story about Elaine and Jack Atkins who returned home to Bozeman, Montana after receiving the Medal of Honor from President Trump in Washington D.C. for their son Staff Sergeant W. Aktins.
In the NEWSROOM, you will want to read a story by Samuel Taylor, Columnist, Hawk Talk, Bozeman High School, titled “Honoring Those Who Fought Without Their Country’s Approval”.
Hit the ARCHIVES page on our website and you can get a historical view of what we have accomplished over the years.
